Motorex 2013 shines in Sydney

The halls were alive with chrome, creativity and craftmanship at the 13th running of Motorex, held in Sydney last weekend. If you like your cars with more engine above the bonnet than below, or with wheels and tyres bigger than the bus you caught to the show, Motorex 2013 did not disappoint.

The annual indoor show and shine held at Sydney Olympic Park promised value for the thousands of spectators in attendance, with no less than 10 new elite show cars making their debut.
The coveted centre-stage position went to the 1968 Dodge Charger of Terry Mourched, while other standout unveilings included a thoroughly modded 1954 Divco milk truck, a pair of 33/34 Ford 3 window coupes, two supremely detailed Holden Torana drag weapons, a Holden WB one-tonner, an XY Falcon, an FB Holden, and perhaps the wildest incarnation of a humble Datsun 1200 ute to date.
As always, these mega-dollar elite show cars were Motorex’s main drawcard, but the attractions spead across an array of other automotive eye candy, from muscle cars to hot rods, classics, motorcycles, race cars, exotics and modern performance machines.
The show also played host to design legend, car builder and television personality Chip Foose, who flew from the US to make his first Motorex appearance.
Hyundai Australia also made its first Motorex appearance, winning cool points with the crowd by displaying the 2012 Australian International Motor Show Veloster Street and Race concepts, plus the first public showing of the upcoming i30 2.0 litre SR hatch.
Motor racing legend John Bowe was also on hand with his TCM Mustang racer, plus Erebus Motorsport owner Betty Klimenko made an appearance with her 2013 Bathurst 12 hour-winning SLS AMG GT3 alongside other Ferrari and Audi GT racers.
The Motorex lineup also included a several trade displays, with demonstrations and new product unveilings for those looking to create their own show-stopper, plus a Shannons auction of several classics on the Sunday.
