Typically, Chevrolet sends its most powerful cars to pace the most important racing events and this year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup will be no exception. Chevy and Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today that a Camaro ZL1
will pace this Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup field set to the start the
Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis,
Indiana. The ZL1 will be driven by ESPN "SportsCenter" anchor and
Indiana University graduate, Sage Steele
The ZL1 Pace
Car is painted in a nice combination of blue and gray with the official
logos and badges. There are also lots of sirens and LED lights that
will help it be more visible on the racetrack.
Chevrolet has paced the previous 19 Sprint Cup races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and this is the sixth time a Camaro has paced the race.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro ZL1 at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. It is the most powerful and aggressive Camaro in the lineup.
The
Camaro ZL1 is powered by a LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that
delivers a total of 580 ponies at 6,000 rpm and 556 pound-feet of torque
at 4,200 rpm. The muscle car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9
seconds with an automatic gearbox and can reach a top speed of 184 mph.
The model is priced from $60,445.
