2014 Citroen C-Elysee WTCC

Citroen revealed today the first details on the C-Elysee WTCC that will race in the World Touring Car Championship starting in the 2014 racing season. The model has now begun an intensive testing regimen and will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. During the WTCC series the model will be driven by Sébastien Loeb.

The model is based on the 2013 C-Elysee and has been is the first vehicle designed in accordance with new FIA regulations. The model is powered by the same 1.6-liter direct-injected, turbocharged engine found in the the DS3 WRC. It delivers a total of approximately 380 horsepower and will send its power to the front wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox.

When compared to the standard version, the WTCC model is distinguished by a more aggressive aerodynamic kit that includes a new splitter, a redesigned front bumper with a prominent double chevron, new front and rear wings, and a set of 18-inch wheels.

2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo

Earlier this year ,Nissan announced the 370Z Nismo Euro-Spec, and today at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, the company announced the U.S. version of the same model. The 2014 model continues with the same V-6 engine, but it adds distinctive new exterior and interior accents, plus refined suspension.

When compared to a standard 370Z, the Nismo version is 6.2 inches longer and adds a more aggressive look. Exterior features include an extended front nose design and a fully integrated chin spoiler, while the interior gains sports seats, steering wheel with Alcantara wrap and much more.

For the 2014 model year, most changes are limited to the addition of a new dark gray on numerous parts of the body, plus a new Solid Red replacing the previous Magma Red.

The 2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo will go on sale this summer.

2014 BMW X5 by Lumma Design

The 2014 BMW X5 will not hit showrooms until late in November, but Lumma Design has already found a way to improve it. The new Lumma kit applies to both diesel and gasoline models, and will be available for order starting in March 2014.

As with any other kit developed by Lumma, the new CLR X5 RS starts by upgrading the exterior look of the car. The new aerodynamic kit starts with a new front spoiler bumper with enlarged air inlets and integrated daytime running lights. There are also new, custom-made side skirts and a new hood with large built-in vents.

Lumma also took the X5’s backside to a new level, as it installed a new integrated diffuser and a new rear spoiler with specially placed panels. Lastly, a set of powerful-looking wheel-arch flares help to give the X5 a more aggressive stance.

2016 Acura NSX

After years of teasing and concept reveals, the Acura NSX is finally going to be a reality. This was confirmed by a press release from Honda informing us that it had selected a production facility: an all-new, 184,000-square-foot Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. This production facility will be inside Honda’s former North American Logistics facility nearby Honda’s R&D and engineering operations.

Little is known about the production version of the NSX except the fact that is will carry a mid-mounted, direct-injected V-6 engine and Acura’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD uses a trio of electric motors – one mated to the engine and two driving the front wheels – to help boost the V-6 engine’s performance and overall vehicle stability. The latest concept’s engine hooked up to a dual-clutch transmission and we expect the same from the production model. Unfortunately, Honda released no information on the total output and performance of the NSX, so we are in the dark here. We do figure to see at least 400 horsepower from the 2016 NSX and a 0-to-60 mph time around 4 seconds.

The 2013 NSX Concept is likely the one that is most similar to what the NSX will actually look like, minus the crazy headlights and wheels. The red and black leather interior is very realistic for production and the body isn’t too over the top to be considered for production.

Production will begin in Ohio in 2015, making this a 2016 model year not the 2015 model year that anticipated earlier. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Updated 07/25/2013: Today, Acura unveiled a prototype of the upcoming NSX that will lap the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course just before the Honda Indy 200 on August 4th. You can see the blue-liveried NSX above. We’re sure there will be many more images and videos after it makes its trip around the track, stay tuned for more in August.

2013 Audi AS6-R by ABT Sportsline

If you want to buy a high-performance station wagon, there are not too many models to choose from, but the Audi S6 Avant is definitely a very good option. In its standard setup, the S6 Avant boasts a 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a total output of 420 horsepower and 550 Nm (406 pound-feet).

Sure, those are rather astounding numbers for a wagon, but this beast can get even more powerful, the only question is where to turn to get a nice boost. ABT Sportsline is happy to answer your S6-tuning query with its performance kit that adds another 180 horsepower and 200 Nm (147 pound-feet) to the V-8’s final output.

As a result, the AS6-R now pumps out a total of 600 horsepower and a peak torque of 553 pound-feet, which is 40 horsepower and 37 pound-feet more torque than the base RS6 Avant. The ABT AS6-R can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3.9 seconds, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 12.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 310 km/h (192 mph).

2014 McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren unveiled the MP4-12C back in 2011 and it looks like the car is already about to receive its second revision. The first revision took place for the 2013 model year and the changes were very slight. This time around, the changes will likely be a little more noticeable and our our spy photographers caught one of there revised MP4-12C prototypes testing at Nurburgring under camo.

Since this camouflage only hides the car’s front end, we expect to see changes to the front bumper and headlights. Rumors also suggest that McLaren will offer a small power boost for the twin-turbocharged V-8. The current MP4-12C delivers a total of 625 horsepower and we expect to see updated version to deliver somewhere in the 650-horsepower area.

Expect to see the revised MP4-12C unveiled in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, with sales to begin shortly after.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI may be a 500-Horsepower Hybrid

We have heard all kinds of crazy rumors about the next-gen Lancer Evo here recently and now we have one more to add to the pile. A report from AutoCar points to a near certainty that the new Evo XI will bear a 500-horsepower hybrid powerplant and aim directly against models like Nissan GT-R.

Mitsubishi is set to unveil the next generation for the standard Mitsubishi Lancer sometime next year and, for the first time ever, it will feature a hybrid variant. According to AutoCar’s report, the same treatment will also be applied to the Evo version. The model is said to borrow racing technology from the MiEV Evolution II Pikes Peak, which will guarantee stunning performance.

This technology making its way onto the next Evo depends on how customers accept Mitsubishi’s new plug-in hybrid PHEV technology. However, at the recent Pikes Peak event it proved amazing capabilities, so the company has big hopes for it.

The new hybrid system will combine a 2.0-liter gas engine with two 80-horsepower electric motors for a total output of 500 horsepower. The Evo XI will be inspired by the Concept-RA, which was unveiled at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, and will be unveiled a few months after the standard Lancer.

2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean-Pierre Wimille" Edition

 

In every company in the world, there are people that have helped elevate it to supremacy and some companies see it fit to celebrate its heroes. Bugatti is doing just that by preparing a series of six individual Veyron models, specially developed to pay tribute to the people that "have played a crucial role in its history and which have helped creating its mystique."

The first from this special series is called Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean-Pierre Wimille" Edition and, as its name suggests, it pays tribute to Jean-Pierre Wimille — a racecar driver that brought two Le Mans victories to Bugatti.

This special edition was inspired by the Bugatti 57G Tank that won the Le Mans in 1937. It comes with a two-tone paint job that features blue clear-coated carbon fiber and a light Wimille Bleu. Under the hood, this Bugatti Veyron stays bone stock, leaving it at the amazing 8-liter W-16 engine that delivers 1,200 horsepower and 1,100 pound-feet of torque.

The model will be making its world debut at the US The Quail/Pebble Beach set to take place from 16 to 18 August.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Pace Car

Typically, Chevrolet sends its most powerful cars to pace the most important racing events and this year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup will be no exception. Chevy and Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today that a Camaro ZL1 will pace this Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup field set to the start the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana. The ZL1 will be driven by ESPN "SportsCenter" anchor and Indiana University graduate, Sage Steele

The ZL1 Pace Car is painted in a nice combination of blue and gray with the official logos and badges. There are also lots of sirens and LED lights that will help it be more visible on the racetrack.

Chevrolet has paced the previous 19 Sprint Cup races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and this is the sixth time a Camaro has paced the race.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro ZL1 at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. It is the most powerful and aggressive Camaro in the lineup.

The Camaro ZL1 is powered by a LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that delivers a total of 580 ponies at 6,000 rpm and 556 pound-feet of torque at 4,200 rpm. The muscle car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds with an automatic gearbox and can reach a top speed of 184 mph.

The model is priced from $60,445.

And they're stunning. Rather like the progeny of Brad and Angelina, you couldn't expect offspring from Zagato and Aston to be anything less. For the famed Italian design house Zagato, intimately linked with Aston Martin for over half a century, it’s only natural to mark the centenary this year of the historic British automaker, and what better way than to roll out a new Aston Martin Zagato creation.

We can confirm that Zagato will build two examples of a new Aston Martin centenary special, one based on the 2013 DB9 Volante convertible and destined for a customer in the U.S. and the other on a 2013 DBS coupe.

The DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial was conceived for American car collector Peter Read, a longtime enthusiast and collector of Aston Martins. The DBS Coupe Zagato Centennial, meanwhile, was developed for a young entrepreneur based in Japan.

Their designs draw inspiration from 2002’s DB7 Zagato, which proved so popular that all 99 examples allotted for sale were snapped up before the car had even made its debut at the Paris Auto Show of that same year. The same team responsible for the DB7 Zagato, led by Andrea and Marella Zagato together with Read, also worked on the latest centenary special.

Looking at the renderings, it’s hard to recognise the modern Astons underpinning the cars but there’s no missing the signature of elements of both Zagato and Aston Martin. The double-bubble roof, clean surfaces and squared-off tail all scream Zagato while the grille, fender vents and fastback body tell you you’re looking at an Aston Martin well before the winged badge comes into view.

You’ll also notice that there are clear influences from the V8 Zagato of the 1980s, particularly at the front of the cars. The design team’s vision is best expressed by Read, who said, “the DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial perfectly merges Aston Martin and Zagato’s DNA by combining the elegance of design, typical of Zagato, with the soul, power and prestige of Aston Martin, all developed over the last 100 years."

No changes were made to the mechanical package of either car, so they both come with Aston Martin’s venerable 6.0 litre V12, good for 380kW. Zagato has been called upon by Aston Martin to develop special bodies for its cars for more than half a century, with the partnership starting with the legendary DB4GT Zagato first shown in 1960. The cars, though expensive, have always been stunning and as history has shown they’ve all become highly sought-after collectibles.
